Getting Our Hands Dirty

We had a great time starting our annual HCCA gardening project and the kids loved getting their hands dirty.. In addition to filling planter boxes and planting, our students learned about local plants, including what they need to grow, how to plant and care for them, and what they can be used for. Additionally, we layered in local history and facts, including local traditions and the origin of various local foods.

In our experience, children will eat what they grow and everybody could stand to eat a few more vegetables. At HCCA, we are teaching the whole child, including how to eat well, and be happy and healthy.
